WELCOME TO CHALKWAY COTTAGE

Chalkway Cottage, a secluded stone cottage dating from 1845, sleeps four people comfortably.  It sits near a stream and enjoys glorious views across the valley and surrounding countryside of the Cricket St Thomas Estate.  This area will be familiar to those who remember the television series “To the Manor Born”.

The cottage is furnished and maintained to a high standard and stands in one third of an acre of garden, where deer and pheasant come to visit.   It is an ideal retreat, having a wood burner for cosy winter evenings and a conservatory leading onto the garden which comes into its own in the summertime.  The cottage is of a size to suit either families or couples: there are plenty of games for rainy days and a well-stocked bookcase.

The World Heritage Jurassic Coast at Lyme Regis is within easy reach, as are the beaches of Dorset and South Devon.  There are a number of National Trust and other historic properties in the vicinity, as well as some very fine gardens which are open to the public.  These include Hestercombe – famous for the partnership between Sir Edwin Lutyens and Gertrude Jekyll, East Lambrook – home of the cottage garden developed by Marjorie Fish, Tintinhull and Stourhead.
